<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To predict a mechanical deterioration of a polymer electrolyte membrane used for a fuel cell. <P>SOLUTION: The method includes: a fracture energy calculation step of calculating a fracture energy from plastic deformation of the polymer electrolyte membrane until its fracture based on a stress-strain curve of the polymer electrolyte membrane; a plastic behavior absorbing energy calculation step of calculating a plastic behavior absorbing energy absorbed by the plastic deformation of the polymer electrolyte membrane regarding one cycle of an expansion and contraction when the polymer electrolyte membrane is expanded and contracted; and a cycle number calculation step of calculating the cycle number of the expansion and contraction until the polymer electrolyte membrane fractures based on the fracture energy and the plastic behavior energy. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
