PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a document retrieval method for properly extracting a document desired by a user. SOLUTION: A data processing apparatus 30 includes a document weight generation part 32 for deriving weights to be added in the unit of a document file stored in a document database. In setting the document weight of each document file, the document weight generation part 32 executes: calculating similarities between document files stored in the document database 10; sequentially determining one target document file to estimate reference paths of document files, starting with the target document file, on the basis of browsing and registration history data; and referring to the similarities among document files to sum up the similarities between the target document file and document files on a generation genealogy and deriving an evaluation value about the utilization degree of the target document file.
