PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suitably synchronize the timing to generate a Karaoke performance sound with the timing to change a light-emitting state in an illumination apparatus regardless of a type, age of service and the like of the illumination apparatus. SOLUTION: The Karaoke illumination system includes an optical sensor for detecting at least one of the change in illuminance of light emitted from the illumination apparatus and the change in color thereof to output a light emission detection signal. A light emission-controlling apparatus compares the timing to emit the Karaoke performance sound obtained from tempo data included in Karaoke performance data with the light emission-changing timing, such as the timing to lighten, obtained from the light emission detection signal and obtains delay time by which the light emission-changing timing is delayed from the sound-emitting timing. The timing to transmit the light emission-controlling signal from the sound-emitting timing to the illumination apparatus is delayed just by the difference obtained by subtracting the delay time from a time interval (tempo interval) of successive sound-emitting timing, thereby synchronizing the sound-emitting timing and the light emission-changing timing.
