PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide printer which optimizes a conveyance speed while suppressing bleeding among inks. SOLUTION: The printer is equipped with: a conveyance mechanism for conveying a medium in a conveyance direction; a plurality of heads arranged side by side in the conveyance direction, and discharging respective color inks to the medium; a reading section for reading an image printed on the medium by the plurality of heads; a comparing section for comparing the reading result of an image when the medium is conveyed at the reference speed in which, by the time when ink discharged from a certain head lands on the medium, ink discharged from other head on the upstream side of the certain head in the conveyance direction is dried, with that of an image when the medium is conveyed at a first conveyance speed lower than the reference speed. When the comparison result of the comparing section exceeds an allowance, the next printing is made at a second conveyance speed lower than the first conveyance speed. COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
