Provided is a digital video signal output device for outputting a digital video signal to a display device for displaying video. The output device acquires display capability data that describes a video data structure such as a 3D format from the digital video display device. The output device selects one video data structure from at least one video data structure, superimposes packet data including structure information designating the selected video data structure during the blanking period of a digital video signal including video data based on the selected video data structure, and transmits, as a digital video output signal, the signal on which the packet data has been superimposed. |
