Disclosed is a pneumatic tire that can increase fuel efficiency and be more lightweight while securing durability. With a carcass (2)-which extends toroidally straddling a pair of bead cores (1) each embedded in one of a left-right pair of bead sections-as a scaffold, the pneumatic tire is provided with: a single-layer oblique steel belt layer (3) comprising a plurality of arrayed cords extending obliquely with respect to the direction of the perimeter of the tire and disposed on the outer peripheral side from the crown section of the carcass (2); and a single-layer peripheral belt layer (4) comprising a plurality of cords arrayed essentially parallel to the peripheral direction of the tire and disposed on the outer peripheral side from the oblique steel belt layer (3). The cords (5) of the oblique steel cord layer (3) are aligned in the direction of belt width with a bundle of a plurality of parallel-arranged steel filaments as a unit, and the cords (6) of the peripheral belt layer (4) are aligned in the direction of belt width with a plurality of twisted filaments. |
