NOVEL SHIGELLA PROTEIN ANTIGENS AND METHODS

PURPOSE: A shigella using protein antigen IcsP2 and SigA2 and a method for diagnosing EIEC infection is provided to prevent dysentery or other intestine infection. CONSTITUTION: A vaccine composition for immunizing mammals contains shigella protein IcsP2 or SigA2 protein, and pharmaceutically acceptable carrier or diluent. IcsP2 protein is chemically conjugated to the carrier protein. The IcsP2 protein is a gene fusion product of a polypeptide encoding the sequence of the carrier protein. The vaccine additionally contains adjuvant of water-in-oil type emulsion or double oil.
