Self-supporting positive electrodes for alkaline accumulators are made by compressing a powdered metal oxide or a mixture of an oxide and powdered metal. Oxides of silver and copper may be used and the powdered material may include an inert metal or non-metallic substance, for example nickel or graphite. The electrodes may contain inserts and the edges may be protected by non-metallic or metal frames to which current leads may be connected. |
