Gain and spectral shape adjustment in audio signal processing

The present invention relates to a method for audio signal processing in a communication system comprising a near party and a remote party, comprising receiving an audio signal (x(n)) by the near party that is transmitted by the remote party; estimating local background noise by the near party; estimating local acoustic echo by the near party; and adjusting the gain and the spectral shape of the received audio signal (x(n)) based on the estimated local background noise and the estimated local acoustic echo.
