A recording apparatus (100) includes recording means (104) that records a moving image file including a moving image signal in a recording medium, setting means (106) that sets a threshold based on a remaining capacity of the recording medium, and control means (106) that controls the recording means to start recording a moving image file in the recording medium according to a recording instruction, wherein the control means controls the recording means to divide the moving image file according to a fact that a size of the moving image file has reached the threshold during recording of the moving image file according to the recording instruction, and if the remaining capacity of the recording medium is determined to have run out during recording of the moving image file, the control means controls the recording means to delete, among a plurality of moving image files recorded after the recording instruction, the moving image file recorded first. |
