The current in first output assembly is evaluated to generate measured value. The measured value is subjected to test criterion, where satisfaction of test criterion is noted as diagnosis message (40). A second output assembly is operated within time period of waiting time (TW) such that output voltage (58) is switched off for time period of switched-off time (TA). The current in first output assembly is re-evaluated. The measured value obtained from re-evaluated current is re-subjected to test criterion. A defect message (60) is produced, if test criterion is satisfied. An independent claim is included for output assembly.
