Class 89(2) A mooring-device for ships comprises an arm 10 pivoted on a vertical-pin 19 in a bracket 20 secured by clips 22, 23 to a bollard 21 on a jetty, and having pivoted thereto a hook 15 and a mousing-part 16. In use, a wire-loop is passed over the hook, which is held closed by part 16 locked by a peg 24. To release the loop the peg is removed and the part 16 hammered off or moved by an electromagnet so that tension in the wire will pivot the hook to release the loop. The hook-engaging-surface 16' of part 16 is curved to facilitate movement of the part from the hook, even if the wire is in tension. In another arrangement, two such devices are pivoted on vertical-pins clipped one on each side of a bollard, and a rubber-buffer is provided on the jetty to receive the hooks as they open</p> |
