The powerplant has a driving unit (204) rotationally driving a main power transmission gearbox (BTP) and a rear power transmission gearbox (BTA) of a rotorcraft. A brushless electric motor (201) is mechanically connected to the driving unit for rotating the driving unit. External overrunning clutches (220, 230) have external driving gears (221, 231) connected to middle shafts (241, 242) driven by work shafts (251, 252) of turbine engines (253, 254) e.g. free turbine turboshaft engines, respectively. The clutches have respective external driven gears (222, 232) engaged with the driving unit. An independent claim is also included for a method for controlling a hybrid powerplant. |
