Hydraulic trailer brake system

The system has wheel brakes (18a-18d) that are connected by a separating valve (14) and a switching valve (28), where the valves are arranged in brake lines. An electrically controllable pressure medium pump (25) is provided in a bypass line according to the valves. A stabilizing coupling (38) is connected with actuators (36a, 36b) using another pressure medium pump (48). The actuators vary a clamping force of the stabilizing coupling between a trailer and a tractor if the pump (48) conveys pressure medium from a storage tank (27) into or out of the actuators.
