[Also in Group XXIX] A profiling-machine comprises a tracer 35 and a milling-cutter 36 arranged on separate slides 3, 2 connected through intermediary members, and means in the members to impart an advance movement to the tracer-slide with respect to the cutter slide. The cutter slide 2 is reciprocated by a piston 21 reversed at each end of its stroke by a valve 26 engaging abutments 34, 35. Actuation of the valve also moves a piston 6 to swing a yoke 5 which, through a pivot 4, having a slotted head 8, and an adjustable crank 10a, moves the tracer-slide 3 about a neutral point to " anticipate " the cutter in each direction of movement. The crank 10a is adjustable against a scale by a screw 13. In a modification, the tracer-slide carries a fork 43, Fig. 6, engaged by a piston 42, the stroke of which is adjusted by a conical pin 45. |
