The invention provides acyloxymethyl esters of C6-14 alkane-dicarboxylic acids of formula (I) (see formula I) or physiologically tolerable salts thereof, for use in medicine including for the treatment of acne, rosacea, hyperpigmentation, wound healing, actinic keratoses, basal cell carcinoma, or a bacterial, viral or fungal infection as well as for the treatment or prevention of skin cancer.
