Laminated polyvinyl chloride belting is rendered antistatic by the provision of an inner layer or layers of polyvinyl chloride composition of electrical conductivity considerably greater than the outer layers preferably made by compounding the resin with conductive carbon black. The belting may also contain moderately conductive intermediate layers of polyvinyl chloride incorporating a wetting agent such as the lauric acid ester of ethylene glycol; these layers, but preferably not the highly conductive and non-conductive layers, may include fabric reinforcement. Constructional examples comprise: (1) a moderately conductive or non- conductive core, highly conductive interlayers and non-conductive outer layers; (2) a highly conductive core, moderately conductive interlayers and non-conductive outer layers; (3) a highly conductive core, two layers on each side of reinforced moderately conductive material, and non-reinforced non-conductive outer layers; (4) three reinforced moderately conductive layers sandwiched between non-reinforced highly conductive layers with superposed non- reinforced non-conductive outer layers. The reinforced layers may be formed by spreading the polymer on fabric; those unreinforced may be formed as separate layers or by coating other layers. |
