The system has a frame (10) whose shape is complementary to that of an immersed portion of a hull to be inspected. A nacelle (18) supports an inspection head (19) of the portion of the hull, and is displaced transversally with respect to a transversal cradle (16) and the frame. The nacelle comprises a pulley. Belts are fixed on the cradle to control transverse displacements of the nacelle around the portion of the hull so as to allow inspection of the portion along a boustrophedon path of the head. A ballasting unit is equipped in the frame. A fixing unit is composed of suction cups.
