The method involves determining initial temperature of a mechanical coupling unit by temperature measurement, and determining current temperature of the mechanical coupling unit by calculation utilizing the initial temperature and a temperature estimation model. The temperature of the mechanical coupling unit is temperature of a friction unit i.e. mechanical coupling unit disc. Temperature of an electromagnetic coil of an actuator (14) of the mechanical coupling unit is measured. An independent claim is also included for a computer implemented program having a set of instructions for executing a temperature determining method.
