PURPOSE: A terminal and method for providing a virtual keyboard is provided to offer a most suitable keyboard by the use intent of a user. CONSTITUTION: A touch panel(142) senses the touch input of a user. A memory unit(150) stores the number of touch points corresponding to the virtual keyboard. A virtual keyboard setting unit(180) selects the virtual keyboard corresponding to the number of the touch input points corresponding to the sensed touch input points. A display unit(141) displays the selected virtual keyboard.
