A socket connector for use with a printed circuit panel 12 comprises an insulating body 16 formed with channels 20 having apertured bases and recessed walls. Located in each of the apertures is a contact 18 comprising a retaining portion 28 from which extends a pair of resilient legs 30 carrying laterallyextending contact portions 32 at their free ends which portions are inclined towards each other. The walls of a pair of recesses bear on the outer surfaces of the contact portions as shown in Fig. 1, so as to urge the lateral extremities of the contact portions into abutment, the insertion therebetween of the panel 12 causing them to flex apart by torsional flexing of the legs.
