<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To diagnose whether or not the discrimination between the normal rotation and reverse rotation of an internal combustion engine (crank shaft) is normally performed. <P>SOLUTION: A pulse width WIPOS of a rotation signal POS outputted by a crank angle sensor for every unit angle of the crank shaft is made to be different between the normal rotation and reverse rotation of the crank shaft, and the normal rotation and reverse rotation of the crank shaft are discriminated by measuring the pulse width WIPOS. A counter CNIPOS which is a counted value of the rotation signal POS is updated based on the discrimination between the normal rotation and reverse rotation, and in restarting, the counter CNIPOS is updated with the value of the counter CNIPOS<SB>Z</SB>in stop time as an initial value. When the value of the counter CNIPOS at a crank angle position decided after starting is different from an expected value, it is diagnosed that abnormalities occur in a function discriminating between the normal rotation and reverse rotation. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT</p> |
