The method involves determining longitudinal velocity of an object via an acceleration sensor (3), which is designed as an accelerometer, G-sensor and B-gauger. The certain longitudinal speed is calibrated using a satellite detection system e.g. global positioning satellite-system, at constant longitudinal speed of the object. Forward direction or reverse direction of the object is determined via the calibration, which exhibits continuous adjusting or continuous adaptation of zero adjustment of the acceleration sensor. Continuous slant compensation is implemented via the calibration. An independent claim is also included for a device for determining momentary speed of the movable object.
