PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a compressed wood product which has a three-dimensional shape including a curved surface and is excellent in dimensional stability and designability. SOLUTION: A method for producing the compressed wood product includes a softening process for softening a blank material made of wood approximately in the shape of a bowl, a compression process for carrying out deformation approximately in the shape of a bowl which is different from a shape before the softening process by applying a compression force to the blank material softened in the softening process, a fixing process for fixing the shape of the blank material deformed in the compression process, a drying process for drying the blank material the shape of which is fixed in the fixing process, and a heating/shaping process for carrying out shaping approximately in a shape similar to the shape of the blank material while the blank material dried in the drying process is heated in the atmosphere. As regards to the blank material after the drying process and before the heating/shaping process, the shape of an inside surface approximately in the shape of a bowl is made closer to a final shape to be reached after the heating/shaping process than the shape of an outside surface, and the surface area of the outside surface is made larger than the surface area of the outside surface in the final shape.
