The method involves processing digitized ECG measurement signals (3) with comparison signals (8, 9) at adaptation criteria (12, 13) between the measurement signals and the comparison signals, respectively. The criteria are compared with each other. Signal portions of the measurement signals are identified based on a comparison (14). The measurement signals are processed with a high resolution comparison signal (11) at high resolution adaptation criteria (18). Time classification of a QRS complex is carried out by suitable optimization of the high resolution adaptation criteria.
