Therapeutic agent and treatment method for ameliorating uremia

A therapeutic agent for uremia in humans and animals, which can be easily taken, has fewer adverse effects and is economically inexpensive in a medical treatment and a method of treating uremia are disclosed. A therapeutic agent for uremia in chronic renal failure patients contains a prostaglandin I2 derivative with a specific structure such as beraprost sodium as an active ingredient. The therapeutic agent for uremia ameliorates an intercurrent uremia in a chronic renal failure patient without causing adverse effects and recovery of decreased appetite, improvement in activity, increase in body weight and the like are achieved. The therapeutic effect on uremia is clear reduction or disappearance of uremic symptoms which is observed despite renal failure conditions, particularly the progression of decrease in renal function and can be recognized as a clinical condition.
