Disclosed is a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery, which comprises: a positive electrode and a negative electrode, that are capable of absorbing and desorbing lithium ions; a nonaqueous electrolyte solution; and a separator that is arranged between the positive electrode and the negative electrode. The negative electrode comprises a negative electrode active material layer that contains, as a binder, at least a styrene polymer in an amount of 0.3-8.0% by mass relative to the total mass of the negative electrode active material layer. The nonaqueous electrolyte solution contains a cyclic sulfonic acid ester, which has at least two sulfonyl groups, in an amount of 0.002-5.0% by mass relative to the total mass of the nonaqueous electrolyte solution.
