The circuit controls an input volume level of a hearing aid inversely proportional to a quadratically increasing frequency amplification, so that the remaining auditory threshold is constantly slightly exceeded from a sound pressure level in the ear by the quadratically increasing and controlled frequency amplification in a band. The value of the frequency amplification is adapted and adjusted based on a degree of hearing impairment, such that a maximum value of the frequency amplification is limited and a confinement value is adjusted.
