<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing zeolite excellent in catalytic activity and catalytic life, and to provide a method for producing ε-caprolactam with high yield for a long period of time by using the zeolite thus obtained. <P>SOLUTION: The zeolite is produced by firing a crystal obtained by a hydrothermal synthesis of a silicon compound, subjecting the crystal to a contact treatment with an aqueous solution containing ammonia and/or an ammonium salt, and heat treating the crystal at 500 to 700°C. The obtained zeolite is used as a catalyst to produce ε-caprolactam by Beckmann rearrangement reaction of cyclohexane in a gas phase in the presence of the catalyst. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
