PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To form a cutting line on the surface of a glass sheet nearly vertical to the conveying direction of the glass sheet. SOLUTION: This method for controlling running of a cutter in a glass cutting machine, provided with a cutter for forming the cutting line on the glass sheet running along a guide frame and conveyed in a fixed direction and a controller for controlling the cutter running speed on the basis of a cutter running speed control pattern in which the elapsed time is associated with the cutting speed, includes: a step of correcting the cutter speed corresponding to the elapsed time (t) in the cutter speed control pattern so as to be positive to absorb waviness of the cutting line when the apparent cutter running speed after the time (t) is slower than that corresponding to the elapsed time (t) in the cutter speed control patterns; and a step of correcting the cutter speed so as to be negative when the apparent cutting speed after the time (t) is faster than that corresponding to the elapsed time (t) in the cutter speed control pattern.
