Provided are a transparent electroconductive substrate having high image quality and high reliability, a method for manufacturing the transparent electroconductive substrate, and a display element. Corrosion of embedded electrodes can be prevented while a high aperture ratio and a low resistance are both achieved, by filling depressions formed in the transparent substrate with metal to form embedded electrodes, and covering at least the edge sections between the transparent substrate and the embedded electrodes with an insulating film and forming a transparent electrode.
