PURPOSE: A branching optical waveguide and a manufacturing method thereof are provided to separate a branching part of an optical light and transmit an optical signal, thereby increasing an optical power separating ratio of the branching optical waveguide. CONSTITUTION: An optical signal is inputted to an input optical waveguide(100). A wedge optical waveguide(200) is expanded from an input optical waveguide. The width of the wedge optical waveguide gets narrower in a propagating direction of the optical signal. A pair of first and second output waveguides(300,400) are symmetrical around a central line from the output section of the wedge optical waveguide. The first and second output waveguides are separated from the wedge optical waveguide. |
