<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To unfailingly pick up an electronic component from a component feeder by recognizing a housing position of the electronic component. <P>SOLUTION: A CPU calculates a division number for dividing a housing Cd for housing the electronic component as a target of component library data into a plurality of pieces to capture an image thereof from the size of the electronic component, and then repeats an operation for dividing the housing Cd at a component pickup position of the component feeding unit and image capturing the housing by the number of divisions. A substrate recognition camera captures the entire image of the housing Cd. The CPU composes a plurality of images which are thus divided and captured, displays a composite image of the housing portion Cd and a graphic BG for the electronic component for seaming on a monitor, and moves the graphic BG so that the composite image of the housing portion Cd and the graphic BG is positioned on the displayed screen.
