PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a remote controller which can be turned lateral when it is stored and turned longitudinal and used when it is not stored. SOLUTION: The remote controller includes: a light guide member 7 for guiding an infrared ray to a first emitting port 2a when stored in the storage part 9a-1 of an apparatus body 9 and guiding the infrared ray to a second emitting port 2b when it is detached from the storage part and is not stored; an biasing member 8 for holding the light guide member 7 at a position for guiding the infrared ray to the second emitting port 2b when it is not stored; a projection part 11 and an inclined surface 7a relatively provided respectively on the storage part 9a-1 and the light guide member 7 so as to move the light guide member 7 against biasing force of the biasing member 8 to a position for guiding the infrared ray to the first emitting port 2a when it is stored; a button display member 10 provided with a lateral display area 10a and a longitudinal display area 10b; and a button display member 10 for making a transmission type button group 3a selectively perform corresponding display of the lateral display area and the longitudinal display area according to whether it is stored or not.
