PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve a reduction in cost, size and weight of a light scanning optical device. SOLUTION: The light scanning optical device includes: a light source that emits laser light; a scanning optical means that deflects the laser light to scan a surface to be scanned with the laser light in a main-scanning direction; a scanning optical system that equalizes the scanning speed of the laser light; a linear light-condensing element that changes the laser light into linear light and forms an image by the linear light on a reflective surface. The linear light-condensing element includes a diffraction part having a diffraction effect, provided on one of the laser light-incident surface and the laser light exit surface thereof. The diffraction part is formed so that the power variation of the diffraction part caused by the ambient temperature fluctuation may correct the focal position variation caused by the ambient temperature fluctuation in a sub-scanning direction. The diffraction part has a blazed grating shape including first and second diffraction surfaces. The first diffraction surface is formed to be a planar shape, and the second diffraction surface is formed to be a curved-surface shape. COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
