PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a forced cooling method for a boiler, which is executed in an once-through boiler and performs control so that a temperature decrease ratio of the boiler becomes larger than a constant level. SOLUTION: The forced cooling method for the boiler 1 is performed after fire extinguishing of the boiler 1 in a thermal power generation facility. By operating an air supply fan, a fixed amount of air is supplied continuously. In a condition where the temperature of the boiler 1 is equal to or higher than 180°C, water supply of a first flow rate is made to flow in various types of heat exchangers, a start bypass route 18 and a condensate pipe/feed pipe. In a condition where the temperature of the boiler 1 is less than 180°C, water supply of a second flow rate smaller than the first flow rate is made to flow in the various types of heat exchangers, the start bypass route 18 and the condensate pipe/feed pipe.
