PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To securely remove dust or the like adhering to a piston rod, smoothly operate a piston containing the piston rod, and also improve durability in a fluid pressure cylinder. SOLUTION: In the fluid pressure cylinder 10, a rod cover 14 is provided with a dust removal mechanism 20 having a switching valve 56 for supplying a pressure fluid supplied to a second port 48 to a fourth communication passage 54 side and also switching a supply state to a piston rod 18 side during pressure fluid discharge. Then, when a piston 16 is displaced toward the wall part 24 side of a cylinder tube 12, the pressure fluid in a second cylinder chamber 72 is supplied to the outer peripheral surface of the piston rod 18 through a derivation passage 52 under switching action by the switching valve 56.
