<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique which enables a user to recognize the cause of occurrence of a non-feed jam as soon as possible for smoothly solving the non-feed jam. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming device includes a function of assuming the cause of occurrence of the non-feed jam and detecting the causes of occurrence. A jam code in accordance with the type of the cause of occurrence of the non-feed jam and a message displayed on a display are set and stored in advance.
