PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a long cutting tool having an edge material brazed thereto which can prevent a partial peeling or cracking along the longitudinal direction from being generated on the brazing layer, and in which the life of the cutting tool is obtained, and quality of a cut member to be cut is maintained even cutting or machining is repeated in the long cutting tool 1 having the brazed edge material wherein the edge material 2 and a base metal 3 having a larger liner expansion coefficient than that of the edge material are brazed. SOLUTION: At least one or more slits 9 having a width capable of absorbing the thermal expansion difference in the longitudinal direction of the edge material 2 and the base metal 3 by shrinking in the longitudinal direction of the base metal 3 at brazing filler metal melting temperature in brazing are formed on edge material joining surfaces 4a, 4b of a notched groove part 4 formed on the base metal 3. The slits 9 are formed in the almost parallel to the vertical surface in the longitudinal direction of the base metal 3 striding over the edge material joining surfaces 4a, 4b of the base metal 3 and the edge material 2.
