PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a process for fabrication of a solid electrolytic capacitor which can dramatically improve a yield in fabrication of and packaging by suppressing increase of leakage current in a fabrication stage and a packaging stage. SOLUTION: This process for fabrication of a solid electrolytic capacitor includes steps of: forming an oxide coating on an anode body; forming a solid electrolyte layer formed of a conductive polymer on the oxide coating; forming a cathode extraction layer on the solid electrolyte layer; and covering the anode body formed with the cathode extraction layer with a housing made of a resin. In the process for fabrication of a solid electrolytic capacitor, the solid electrolyte layer is formed by performing chemical oxidative polymerization. The process includes a step of performing heat treatment at a temperature not lower than 230°C during the step of forming the solid electrolyte layer, or after the step of forming the solid electrolyte layer and before the step of forming the cathode extraction layer on the solid electrolyte layer.
