PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multi-stage expandable type valve rod cover coveringly protecting a projectingly arranged and protruding/retracting valve rod of an industrial valve securing intrinsic safety, visibility and long-term maintainability by making the length of the cover of a projectingly arranged form expandable/contractable. SOLUTION: In the valve rod cover 1 of a multi-stage expandable/contractable structure and coveringly protecting the valve rod 101 protruding/retracting from a center part of an operation handle 102 of the industrial valve, a cover body 2 includes a plurality of cylindrical members 3-5 relatively circumscribing/inscribing and moving. By a member abutting on and contactingly facing a top part of a cover body 7 or the valve rod provided on an upper end surface of a most distal end cover 5, the cover is gradually pushed out to expand when the valve rod expands, whereas the cover body also contracts when the valve rod 101 contracts by a handle operation, and thereby the valve rod cover keeps the shortest length always. Further, the valve rod cover is of a type and structure in which, by connecting the top part of the valve rod 101 and the cover body 7 with each other by a mechanical screw 17, a connector, or a magnet and the like, the length of the cover body also expands/contracts automatically interlockingly when the valve rod expands/contracts.
