Disclosed is a toilet provided with a digestion tank which can appropriately control the moisture content of a base material inhabited by microorganisms so as to allow the microorganisms to effectively decompose and digest excrements. A toilet (10) provided with a digestion tank, comprising: the digestion tank (20) containing a base material, which is inhabited by microorganisms, and excrements; exhaust mechanisms (53, 54, 58); agitation mechanisms (42, 43) agitating the base material together with the excrements; heating mechanisms (44, 50, 55) heating the base material; a moisture content sensor (48) detecting the moisture content of the base material; and a controller (60). Based on the moisture content of the base material inhabited by microorganisms in the digestion tank (20), the moisture content having been detected by the moisture content sensor (48), the controller (60) switches between a stand-by operation mode, wherein the moisture content of the base material in the digestion tank (20) is maintained, and a dehumidifying operation mode, wherein moisture is removed from the base material in the digestion tank (20) to lower the moisture content of the base material, so as to control the aforesaid exhaust mechanisms, agitation mechanisms and heating mechanisms.
