PURPOSE: A device for gathering unconsolidated sediment and a method thereof using the same are provided to perform sampling without damage to a simple with originally stacked state. CONSTITUTION: A device for gathering unconsolidated sediment comprises an upper supporting member(120), a bottom support member(110), a space maintenance member, a sample holding member, a sampling tube, a sample sealing member, a hydraulic drive device, and a pushing-out member. A space maintenance member is allowed in between the upper supporting member and bottom support member vertically and makes maintain interval between the bottom support member and the upper supporting member. The sampling tube is fixed with the sample holding member. The sample sealing member surrounds the sampling tube.
