<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high epithelial distension-retaining composition which can be easily injected as a solution through a thin catheter and allows retaining a high epithelial distension. <P>SOLUTION: The high epithelial distension-retaining composition comprises a solution which contains sodium hyaluronate having a weight-average molecular weight of 880,000-920,000 at a rate of 0.4%(w/v), wherein the composition satisfies all the requirements (1)-(4) as follows: (1) it has an endotoxin concentration of 0.25 EU/mL or less; (2) it has a iron content of 20 ppm or less; (3) it has a pH of 6.8-7.8; and (4) it has an osmotic pressure ratio of 0.9-1.2 relative to a physiological saline.
