PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce power consumption required for refreshing a volatile memory element. SOLUTION: A holding area and a coping area are set beforehand on a memory cell array. When an entry is set into a partial access mode, the copying operation is carried out with respective memory cells included in the holding area as copying sources and also with one or a plurality of memory cells included in the copying area connected to bit lines to which the memory cells of a copying source are connected as copying destinations. After that, copy is operated with the memory cells of the copying source and the memory cells of the copying destination as access units during the partial access mode. COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
