<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain thinning, low cost, and energy saving of a device by improving light utilization efficiency. <P>SOLUTION: A surface light source device includes a light guide plate 3 having a side end face of which a part is used as an incident face 3a to which light is made incident, and a light source 2 installed along the incident face 3a and to emit the light toward the incident face 3a. Reflecting members 4, 5 having reflecting faces 4a, 5a to guide the light to the incident face 3a are installed so as to restrict divergence of the light emitted from the light source 2 in the thickness direction (Z-direction) of the light guide plate 3, and all of the reflecting faces 4a, 4b or a part of the light guide plate 3 side are used as a specular reflecting face. When a part of the light guide plate 3 side of the reflecting faces 4a, 5a is used as the specular reflecting face, the remaining parts 4b, 5b are used as diffusion reflecting faces. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
