PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hydrolyzable silane having cyclophane structure having high transparency and high heat resistance based on Si-O bond, showing a high refractive index and having cyclophane structure. SOLUTION: The hydrolyzable silane includes cyclophane that is [n, n] paracyclophane, wherein n is an integer of 1-6, and the silane is represented by formula (1): R<SP>1</SP><SB>a</SB>SiR<SP>2</SP><SB>(4-a)</SB>(wherein R<SP>1</SP>is a compound represented by formula (2), wherein Q represents a direct bond or a bivalent bonding group; n1 and n2 are each an integer of 1-6; n3 and n4 are each an integer of 0-4; R<SP>3</SP>and R<SP>4</SP>are substituents of benzene ring, and are each alkyl, aryl, halogenated alkyl, halogenated aryl, alkenyl, epoxy, acryloyl, methacryloyl, mercapto, amino, carboxyl, phosphate, amide, nitro, acyl, sulfone, cyano or combination thereof).
