The method involves measuring natural seismic earth noises by multiple sensors (1a-1c), and determining a frequency spectrum for various measurement time slots. A set of spectral lines or spectral regions determined from a time variation of amplitude and/or a frequency and from an alteration of a dynamic change are closed on a state of a carbon dioxide (CO2) reservoir. Time variation of the spectral lines or the spectral regions is compared with another set of spectral lines or spectral regions resulting on the state of the CO2 reservoir. An independent claim is also included for a device for monitoring a CO2 reservoir comprising a frequency transformer for transforming sensor signals into a frequency room.
