PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress increase in control load with the diversification of game performance. SOLUTION: A background image is composed of: "season image" showing a regular variation mode when a plurality of times of background variation performances are carried out; and "place image" showing an irregular variation mode. When carrying out a background variation performance for varying one of the "season image" and "place image", a CPU for generalization control and a CPU for display control set the command value of the present background image image-displayed on a performance display device (image display section) as a reference parameter, and adds the value of a variation parameter corresponding to the variation content of background variation to the value of the reference parameter, thereby calculating the command value of the background image after variation in the background variation performance.
