PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a small muffling device capable of effectively reducing compound operation noise. SOLUTION: The muffling device is installed at an exhaust port formed in a case of a projector, and has the first plate 35b and the second plate which are arranged opposite to each other at a prescribed distance and a partition member for forming the first space 40d and the second space 40e divided from outside between the first plate 35b and the second plate. The partition member is comprised of: an outer peripheral wall 50 for forming the space between the both plates by connecting the first plate 35b and the second plate, and an partition wall 51 for dividing the space formed by the outer peripheral wall 50 into two of the first space 40d and the second space 40e. The muffling device also has two or more punching work holes 39c which are formed in the first plate 35b and the second plate respectively so as to make the second space 40e communicate with the outside and through-holes 24f which are formed in the partition wall 51 so as to make the first space 40d communicate with the second space 40e.
